=================
A Doctoral position is available in the Software Engineering research unit at Fondazione Bruno Kessler-IRST CIT (http://se.fbk.eu).
The topic of research will be in the area of Requirements Engineering.
In particular, the problem of specifying requirements exploiting semi-formal or formal languages, ranging from model-based approaches such as, goal-oriented techniques, to property-based approaches, e.g., via logic-based languages, will be studied, with the purpose of supporting the analysis and validation of requirements properties. During the study several categories of requirements, such as user or norm related requirements, will be considered to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed techniques.
The candidate will be enrolled as Ph.D. student in the International Doctorate School in Information and Communication Technologies (http://www.ict.unitn.it/) of the University of Trento, Italy. The Ph.D. courses would start on November 1st, 2010, and the thesis must be completed in three or four years (in the latter case, the last year is without grant). The research would be carried out in the Software Engineering unit.
PhD candidates
PhD candidates who are interested in carrying out their research within the
SE Research Unit are usually recruited for a 1-year stage first. During
this initial period they are involved in a small research project which
contributes to the research conducted in the SE group. The salary during
the stage is comparable to a PhD grant. Then, depending on the assessment
of the research work carried out in the 1-year project, candidates may be
encouraged to apply for a PhD grant sponsored by FBK, at the International
Doctorate School of the University of Trento, Italy (http://ict.unitn.it).
